A poor boy’s love for a girl whose tears turn to pearls leads him into a perilous bargain between love, greed, and survival. *Oscar® Winner, Best Animated Short Film* In Montreal at the dawn of the 20th century, a poor boy falls in love with a girl whose sorrow turns her tears into pearls. Desperate to survive, he sells them to a ruthless pawnbroker who soon hungers for more. Torn between love and greed, the boy faces the perilous cost of his choices. From Oscar®-nominated filmmakers Chris Lavis and Maciek Szczerbowski (Madame Tutli-Putli), The Girl Who Cried Pearls is a modern fairytale brought to life through exquisite stop-motion craftsmanship. With handmade puppets, haunting narration by Colm Feore, and an evocative score by Patrick Watson, the film is a timeless parable of desire, deception, and the price of innocence.
